At Classic Auto Works, we offer independent classic-car pre-purchase assessments to help prospective buyers make a more informed decision. Combining advance research, an in-person assessment and a written report, our service is designed to highlight potential concerns, identify areas that may warrant further investigation and give you a clearer understanding of the car before you buy.
Whether you are purchasing your first classic or adding to an established collection, having an experienced pair of eyes assess the vehicle can be invaluable.
What does the assessment involve?
Research before the visit
Every assessment requires preparation. Time is spent researching the particular vehicle, its model and relevant characteristics before travelling to the inspection. This helps us approach the appointment with a better understanding of what to look for.
A one-hour, in-person assessment
We spend up to one hour with the vehicle, assessing its visible condition and identifying potential concerns. We look for issues that may influence your purchasing decision and highlight areas where further checks or specialist attention may be advisable.
A written report after the inspection
The work does not end when we leave the vehicle. Following the appointment, time is spent compiling and typing up our findings into a written report, giving you a useful record of the assessment to refer to when considering your purchase.
Straightforward pricing
£110 per assessment
The fee includes:
- Research and preparation before the visit.
- Up to one hour assessing the vehicle in person.
- Preparation of a written report following the assessment.
The one-hour allowance refers to the time spent with the car. Additional time is required for the research and preparation of the report, and this is included in the £110 fee.
Travel is charged separately at 48p per mile from our base in Stourbridge. Mileage is calculated for the journey to and from the vehicle’s location.
We will discuss the vehicle’s location and applicable travel costs with you when arranging the appointment.
